Chamber Chat: August 2019
The Locust Grove Area Chamber of Commerce board decided to take a few of the summer months off, to take this time to revamp. We have had our monthly meetings in the evenings, with noon meetings every third month. Our goal was to have more in attendance with the noon meetings, however that did not happen.
Our goal as the Chamber is to bring people to our town by having events, to promote businesses and to bring new business to town. We are working on some new things to accomplish these goals.
I am the Chamber’s new Reporter, in a way. I will be going around to businesses every week, visiting with them about their business: What they have, what they specialize in, what they have to offer the community.
I will also be reporting on different events that our area businesses are doing. These reports will then be put on our Facebook page at Locust Grove Chamber and also here on our website.
Be sure to follow our Facebook page for information, reports and events. I visited with two businesses the first week I started, and those reports have been posted.
Another new thing the Chamber is doing is the Cash Mob. We had our first one on Saturday, August 10th from 10 am to 11 am at Builders Wholesale (the lumber yard). There were items on sale during this hour along with a drawing for $50. If you are interested in having a Cash Mob at your business, contact me.
Our next general membership meeting, which everyone is invited to attend, will be Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7:30 a.m. at Wonder City Coffee. We will not have another event until Christmas and I’m hoping it will be huge. Until then, the Chamber is working with the Locust Grove Arts Alliance on the Water Ways exhibit coming to town in October.
