Founder’s Day Schedule:

Dawn to Dusk

Founder’s Day Main Street Vendors: A host of vendors with all kinds of wares will line Main Street for your viewing and buying pleasure. Shop local!

7:00 a.m.

Pancake Breakfast: The Masonic Lodge will do its annual pancake breakfast.

8:00-3:00

Outlaw Cruisers Car Show: The 17th annual car show with prizes and swap meet at the LG sports arena

8:30 a.m.

Dog Show. The dog show at the LG Animal Clinic will have 3 classes with 3 prizes given in each class, plus a Best-Dressed prize for dogs in costume. Matt Franks, FUMC pastor, will do a blessing of the animals before the show.

9:00 a.m.-Noon

Locust Grove Public Library Children’s Book Sale. Hardback are $1.00 and paperbacks are 50 cents. Every dollar spent puts your name into the drawing for a Kindle Fire Tablet.

9:15 a.m.

Church Sing-Off. The first annual church sing off is happening this year. Each church will sing one song. Contact a member of the entertainment committee (see names below) for details. Lance Rogers will announce the churches.

10:00-5:00

LGAA Art Show: The Locust Grove Arts Alliance annual art show and silent auction at the VFW Hall. Sign up by April 21st to have a table. More contact information is at the link.

10:00-4:00

Chalk Art Contest: ROMP Rummage Store will sponsor a chalk art contest in front of the store at 110 E. Main. Everyone eligible to enter. Winners receive a medal.

10:00 a.m.

Donut-Eating Contest: Get your donuts on at Sister Sweets for this contest.

10:30 a.m.

Hay Scramble: Stay at Sister Sweets for the hay scramble!

11:00 a.m.

HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT:  Our 1st Founder’s Day horseshoe tournament will award a trophy and cash prize to the winner. Click on the link for a registration form–due May 7. For more information, contact Adele Collette (contact info. below).

11:30 a.m.

Turtle Race:  Get your turtle ready for the race at the LG Physicians building. Do not decorate or paint your turtle in any way!

Locust Grove Family Physicians is sponsoring the Founder’s Day Turtle Race again this year. Racing starts at 11:30 AM LGFP clinic. Registration will start around 11 AM so arrive in time to get signed up! Age groups are 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9 and above. We have trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each age group. Please don’t bring water or snapping turtles.

Noon

Washer Toss: How far can you toss a washer? Find out at the lumber yard.

Noon-3:00: On the Band stage on Broadway

RAGLAND: Local Americana/Alternative rock band will play on the Broadway Street stage!

THREE-LEGGED DOG: Rock band playing on Broadway!

12:30 p.m.

FIREWALK: Fishinghawk World Championship Karate Studio: Once again David and the crew demonstrate fire-walking and brick/board breaking in the lot just east of the karate studio.

1:45 p.m.

Wilma Cowan Building Dedication: The new joint office building of the Chamber of Commerce and the Locust Grove Arts Alliance was a donation from Justin and Linda Cowan in honor of Justin’s mother Wilma. We will have a brief dedication of the building to honor the Cowans at the location, 114 E. Main.

Founder’s Day Logo Award Presentation: The LGHS students, Audra Cunningham and Sierra Murphy, who designed the Founder’s Day logo will receive special recognition and a cash prize right after the building dedication.

3:00 p.m.

Founder’s Day Parade: We are switching up the parade this year. It will begin at the sale barn and then proceed west down Main Street! KVOO’s Sunny Leigh is the parade marshal. Parade announcer will be John Blackwell.

4:00-7:00 p.m.

Broadway Street Stage: Bands will be playing into the night.

4:00-6:00: HOLE IN THE WALL BAND
